Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 gallon cold water, divided
  • 1 pint fresh raspberries
  • 2 family-size tea bags, or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the syrup: In a saucepan, combine the white sugar and 1 cup of cold water. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove the saucepan from heat once done.
  2. Add raspberries and tea: Place the fresh raspberries and tea bags into the hot sugar syrup. Using the back of a spoon, slightly crush the raspberries to release their flavor.
  3. Steep the tea: Allow the mixture to steep for about 5 minutes or until the tea reaches your preferred strength. After steeping, remove the tea bags carefully.
  4. Strain the tea: Pour the mixture through a sieve into a 1-gallon pitcher to strain out the raspberry solids. If you prefer a stronger raspberry flavor, you can skip this step and leave the raspberries in the tea.
  5. Mix and chill: Add the remaining cold water to the pitcher, filling it to the 1-gallon mark. Stir gently and chill the tea thoroughly in the refrigerator for about 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For a more intense raspberry flavor, leave the crushed raspberries in the tea instead of straining them out.
  • Adjust the number of tea bags for a lighter or stronger tea taste.
  • Garnish with fresh mint sprigs or frozen raspberries for an attractive presentation.
  • Serve over ice for a refreshing summer drink.
