Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 Cups Water (Boiling)
  • 5 Black Tea Bags
  • ½ Cup Sugar
  • 3 Cups Water (Cold)

Flavoring

  • 1 ½ Cup Strawberry Simple Syrup

Optional Garnish

  • Strawberries (sliced)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Sugar: Place 2 cups of boiling water and ½ cup of sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Stir the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved, creating a sweet base for the tea.
  2. Prepare Tea Bags: Remove the 5 black tea bags from their wrappers and gently take off the strings to avoid bitterness. This will allow the tea bags to steep more evenly.
  3. Steep Tea: Submerge all 5 tea bags in the boiling water and let them steep for 5 minutes. This extracts a strong, robust tea flavor.
  4. Remove Tea Bags: Carefully squeeze the tea bags against the side of the bowl to release all the infused tea liquid, then discard the bags.
  5. Add Strawberry Syrup: Pour 1 ½ cups of strawberry simple syrup into the sweetened tea mixture and stir well to combine the flavors uniformly.
  6. Combine with Cold Water: In a large pitcher, add 3 cups of cold water, then pour over the strawberry tea mixture from the bowl. Stir thoroughly to chill and dilute the concentrate to the perfect strength.
  7. Serve with Ice and Garnish: Add ice to both the pitcher and serving glasses as desired. Pour the strawberry tea into glasses, garnish with sliced strawberries, and enjoy a refreshing drink.

Notes

  • For a stronger tea flavor, increase steeping time to 7 minutes but be careful to avoid bitterness.
  • Strawberry simple syrup can be homemade by simmering equal parts water, sugar, and fresh strawberries until thickened, then strained.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the sugar amount in the boiling water or the quantity of syrup added.
  • This tea is best served chilled but can also be served warm by omitting the cold water and ice.
  • Store leftover tea in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for optimal freshness.
